I admit it, I was one of the members of the media that covered the XFL‘s Orlando Rage during the league’s one and only season. Sure, I could show you a couple of photos of the plays, and sometimes they really played some decent football, for a play or two per game, or some of the cheerleaders, or the parties that took place in the stands at the Citrus Bowl. However, this one photo of an attempted post touchdown spike, to me, sums up the concept that was the XFL.
I really wanted to hang out waiting for the camera operator to stand behind the camera when he was using it, but he didn’t in the couple of minutes I had to capture this image. This tower primarily covered the 16th, 17th, and 18th holes during the 2008 Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill Golf Club.
I came across the Shiloh Cemetery back in 1998 and always knew there was a forgotten cemetery in Sanford but I wasn’t able to find out where it was. One day a friend in law enforcement told me that vandals had struck again and wanted to know if I could help document the desecration.
I visited Shiloh about a dozen times or so over the next year or so. No, I wasn’t afraid to walk around as in do I think it is haunted, because MANY of the graves have been disturbed, and yes, human remains were visible, both in the crypts and on the ground. I was more concerned about were I was stepping because you could see barely sunken ground which signified that the coffin underneath had decayed enough that it had collapsed.
One day I would like to go back to Shiloh to photograph how it appears today. Have no idea if it is once again over grown or if local politicos kept their promise to provide upkeep of the grounds.

This photo is one of several dual letter athlete “last minute” assignments that I received while I was stringing for the Orlando Sentinel. I remember that the coach granted me a single time out to as the coach put it, hurry up and take your picture. When the coach blew his whistle again, the session was over and this is one of the frames I walked away with.
When a purple cow tells ya he wants to wear your Tilley hat you don’t ask why, you accept it as a compliment.
Page A-6 of the April 26th edition of The West Orange Times features 4 photos from the 7th Annual Run in the Garden 5K. The group photo of the Winter Garden Runners (goes to their facebook page) was created by Bob Stevens and I created the other three photos.
Just uploaded several photo albums from the race to Tri & Run’s Facebook page. It was a pleasure working with my friends Jerry and Tammy Pegram from Tri & Run of West Orange, who organized the event. The official results are located HERE.
While in “teacher training” at Crealde’s Winter Garden Campus (if all goes well soon, I will begin teaching Digital Photography 1 and 2 classes this Summer) I received a text from the Windermere 5K Run Among the Lakes race director letting me know that two of the images I sent to The West Orange Times had run in the current edition.
Here is a scan of the front page header and then the two photos that ran on page 10-A.
Just uploaded an album of images from Saturday’s race. It was great working around my friends Donna (Race Director), Windermere’s Mayor Gary Bruhn, and Fred from the timing company, Sommer Sports.

My friend Darren is having the 2nd Annual CASH MOB to benefit Tri & Run in Downtown Historic Winter Garden. Stop by at any time in Saturday, April 13th and purchase something, a gel pack, a Life Is Good t-shirt, socks, ANYTHING, and make sure to let Jerry and Tammi know that you appreciate their business.
For all the details, please visit the Facebook event page
This is the first post I created via the WordPress iOS app, so have no idea how it will appear. Won’t be near a computer for a couple of hours.
